What's in the box, Bubbles?

He came from a place over the hill and far away (from a chicken's perspective,  anyway), to even out the male to female ratio a bit.

I've heard that the best time to introduce a new bird is at night, after everyone has gone to bed. Chickens after dark are exceedingly dumb and somehow not all there. So the idea is that they hardly notice the new arrival and in the chicken world, it seems that whoever you wake up with, is part of the family.

I didn't think we'd have too much trouble introducing a boy to three lovely young ladies, but as there's no harm in setting things up to go well, we went with the advice, and popped him in, last thing at night with a torch.

Just arrived, half asleep and very confused

I'll just hide under here while you all go upstairs to bed

And here we are, next morning. That went well!

But things were calming down by the afternoon. He's much more nervous than the girls were when they arrived. Nervous of me and nervous of them. But he hasn't left, so it can't be too bad.

He's only young, and half thier size, so isn't quite strutting his stuff yet, but hopefully there will be some mini chicks in the summer.
